Mistakes were made explores the archeology of factory
defects. I grew up in a political system that did not accept the
idea of mistakes, or mishaps of any type. That which did not fit
the mold was consistently hidden or stored, waiting for a chance
to be discovered. These six factory defects have been weeded out
after infinite number of tryouts. Like beauty queen contestants
these candies have made it as finalists in all categories –
form, color, shape and character. They were scanned or photographed
into the computer using digital scanners and cameras. Some obtained
minimal treatment, whereas in some ‘mistakes’ were created
where none existed.
