Antarctic Tales My Mother Told Me
2001-2003
Archival digital prints
Antarctic Tales My Mother Told Me is a series of photos based on real and imagined landscapes and stories. The tableaus are made out of sugar, flour and salt and then photographed with various cameras, including a microscopic camera. These materials interest me because they oscillate between the domestic and the unfamiliar - referring to a larger beguiling landscape of oceans, mythological seas, glacial drifts, hydrothermal vents, and polar deserts. Done in collabortion with Amanda Fin.
